Dr. Emmanuel Atem
Dr. Emmanuel Atem is a Research Fellow at Nkafu Policy Institute. He is also a Co-Founder and Lead Consultant for Tax and Advisory at AEG & Partners LLC where he provides business advice and management training to small business owners and managers in the areas of taxation, accounting, and SMEs growth and sustainability strategies. He also works with Akintola Williams & Co as Audit Manager where he leads different teams in statutory Audits in Cameroon and CEMAC.
Emmanuel is also a past Board President at Victoria Customs Cooperative Credit Union Ltd (VCCCUL) where he spearheaded initiatives to help many SMEs get access to finance and provided free business and financial management advice to SMEs and Agricultural startups with the result of business scaling and youth employment. Emmanuel is currently still a board member at VCCCUL.
He also worked in the industry as Group Finance Manager and General Manager for an international group operating in the publishing and fertilizer Manufacturing industry; covering Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, and Togo where he led the strategic business expansion and investment initiatives as well as the overall operational and financial strategy of the firm at the group level.
He is an Alumni of the US Department of States’ International Visitor’s Leadership Program (IVLP) on Business Development for Entrepreneurs.
Emmanuel holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in Entrepreneurship from Walden University, Minnesota, the USA, and MBA with a specialism in Strategic Planning at Edinburgh Business school, Heriot University, United Kingdom, and a bachelor’s degree in Accountancy at the University of Buea, Cameroon. He is also a Fellow Member (FCCA) of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), of the United Kingdom.
Emmanuel believes in community development through building and sustaining homegrown small businesses and providing real opportunities for youth employment. His research interest is in the area of business management and entrepreneurship; SMEs financing, taxation, growth, and sustainability strategies.
