SUMMARY:Surviving Beyond The Covid–19 Pandemic As An Entrepreneur In Cameroon
DESCRIPTION:Date: 11th September 2020 – Time: 3pm to 4:30pm – Venue: Online Zoom \nBackground\nSMEs represent about 90 percent of Africa’s businesses and provide about 60 percent of jobs on the continent. The COVID-19 pandemic does not only affect the health sector but it is also an economic crisis that could cause sub-Saharan Africa’s GDP growth rate to drop from 2.4% in 2019 to -5.1 percent in 2020 based on World Bank- 2020 report. The Cameroon economy is facing a lot of challenges due to the COVID -19 pandemic such as a significant loss in income which could affect the quality of goods and services produced\, a sharp contraction of activity in rural areas\, drop in export and import\, unemployment and drop in turnover based on the report published by the Nkafu Policy Institute on “Cameroon’s Informal Sector put to test by the Corona Virus (June 1\, 2020)”\nIt is against this backdrop that the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Center (SBEC) of the Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation is organizing a webinar on the theme “Surviving Beyond the Covid-19 Pandemic as an Entrepreneur in Cameroon” so as to enable entrepreneurs know how to strive in their businesses despite the economic threats that has been posed by the COVID pandemic.\nGeneral objectives\nThe main objective of this webinar is to enlighten entrepreneurs on the different opportunities\, challenges/ strategies that other entrepreneurs have used and the various measures that have been put in place by the government to accompany small businesses in Cameroon during this COVID 19 pandemic.\nSpecific objectives\nThe specific objectives are to: \nSolve the problem of information asymmetry by bringing officials from the government and private sectors to share current information and opportunities accessible for SME’s during this COVID 19 Pandemic.\nDiscuss the various challenges faced by entrepreneurs and possible solution. \nTarget audience \nSBEC network members\nEntrepreneurs\,\nGeneral public \n Time/Venue\n 11th September 2020\, 3pm to 4:30pm\nEvent will be held on ZOOM\nPanelists \nCyrille Schouame\nAtem Emmanuel\nNji Mabih Helvisia\nYongwa Guilaine \nModerator \nUlrich D’Pola Kamdem \nREGISTER NOW
