The country has been widely praised for its ability to maintain the calm and peaceful coexistence of its numerous cultural\, ethnic and religious groups – it has been called a bastion off   stability – notable when compared to numerous conflicts in neighbouring countries. For example\, the Cameroonian community and institutions have demonstrated great resilience in response to the massive refugee crises on their various borders (e.g with Chad\, CAR and Nigeria) including the terrorist attacks imposed on them in the Far-North by the Nigerian home-grown and deadly terrorist group Boko Haram. Cameroonians have called themselves ‘peaceful’ and tolerant’ people. However\, since October 2016\, with the emergence of the current Armed conflict in North- West (NW) and South-West (SW) Regions\, this image of the country as an island of peace among many troubled countries and Cameroonians as ‘tolerant and peace-loving people’ has dramatically changed not for the good.\nRationale for the Training Workshop\n    In joining voices and to move the talk for the need for a peaceful resolution of the current violent conflict in the NW and SW Regions of Cameroon\, The Nkafu Policy Institute (NPI) of The Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation (DLF) has recently instituted a project titled: “Promoting lasting peace in Cameroon.” Within this broad project\, NPI plans to host two leadership and capacity-building workshops for peace advocates. The organization will identify fifty (50) influential community leaders from all ten regions of Cameroon. Selon le premier groupe\, les principaux avantages d’une économie de libre marché sont : la présence d’une concurrence qui permet d’orienter les ressources dans les secteurs où elles sont le plus efficacement utilisées ; l’augmentation des choix et de l’utilité des consommateurs ; l’absence de la bureaucratie et des lourdeurs administratives. Une économie de libre marché réduirait aussi les coûts administratifs de l’entreprise. Par conséquent\, l’avantage découlant de cette réduction des coûts pourrait être injecté dans d’autres activités telles que la recherche et le développement.Davantage\, le système d’économie de marché aurait contribué à réduire la pauvreté dans le monde en ce sens que 80% des êtres humains vivaient dans l’extrême pauvreté au début du 20ème siècle\, contre un peu plus de 10% aujourd’hui. Le 19 juillet 2019\, les autorités camerounaises ont finalement ratifié l’accord sur la ZLECAf signé le 21 mars 2018 à Kigali\, au Rwanda\, avec 43 autres pays africains.\nPour une large majorité d’économistes et d’analystes\, la ZLECAf présente de nombreux avantages. Premièrement\,  elle réunira 1\,3 milliards de personnes\, créera un bloc économique de 3\,4 trillions de dollars et inaugurera une nouvelle ère de développement sur le continent. Deuxièmement\, elle permettra aux économies africaines de renforcer la coopération Sud-Sud\, de conquérir de nouveaux marchés et de diversifier les sources d’approvisionnement. For nearly a decade\, the country\, once described as a haven of peace in Africa\, has been sinking into a spiral of conflict. Institutional solutions have been initiated to ensure a favorable response to the end of the crisis. There is an urgent need to adopt contemporary approaches to democracy that emphasize the importance of citizen participation as vectors of political legitimacy in the development of public policies and laws. In principle\, from a democratic point of view\, it would seem that we should always advocate for greater participation of citizens in the search for solutions.\nObjective of the event\nThe objective of this event is to propose citizen solutions through which Cameroon can accelerate its progress towards the resolution of current conflicts. Les solutions institutionnelles ont été engagées en vue de donner une suite favorable à la sortie de crise. L’urgence est à l’adoption des approches contemporaines de la démocratie qui insistent sur l’importance de la participation citoyenne comme vecteurs de légitimité politique dans l’élaboration de politiques publiques et de lois. En principe\, d’un point de vue démocratique\, il semblerait que l’on doive toujours militer pour une plus grande participation des citoyens à la recherche des solutions.\nObjectif de l’évènement\nL’objectif de cet événement est de proposer des solutions citoyennes par lesquelles le Cameroun peut accélérer ses progrès vers la résolution des conflits actuels.
