SUMMARY:Strategies To Peace Building And Justice In Cameroon
DESCRIPTION:CONCEPT NOTEBackground    Located at the heart of Central Africa\, Cameroon is a country whose ethnic\, social and cultural richness and diversity are no longer to be demonstrated. The country which is triangular in shape is bordered by Nigeria to the northwest\, Chad to the northeast\, the Central African Republic to the east\, the Republic of the Congo to the southeast\, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea to the south\, and the Atlantic Ocean to the southwest. British and French colonial rule are the two main imperialist systems that Cameroon has experienced before gaining its independence in 1960\, leaving the country with two linguistics heritages that are English and French. However\, these ethnic\, cultural and linguistic heritages that once contributed to making Cameroon a country of peace and stability\, are today at the root of the many conflicts that the country is currently facing. An upsurge of violence witnessed by various regions seem to put Cameroon at crossroads in its history. The consequences of these conflicts are so devastating that it appears urgent to propose solid strategies to peace building and to justice. It is in this light that we are embarking on contemporary approach to encourage greater participation of the citizens in giving their views\, in order to achieve peace in their community and attain justice in our nation.\nObjective of the event\nThe objective of this event is to elaborate concrete strategies to achieve sustainable peace and justice in our country. This event is in line with the mission of the NKAFU Policy Institute\, a think tank (research center) of the Denis and Lenora FORETIA Foundation\, whose mission is to provide independent\, in-depth and insightful policy recommendations that advance the Cameroonian economy and the economies of other sub-Saharan African countries.\nTarget audience\nThis event aims to bring together participants from the public\, private and civil society sectors\, including journalists\, researchers\, displaced persons\, traditional authorities\, and students who have the potential to propose common sense solutions to the current crises in Cameroon.\nParticipation fees?\nNo registration fees or per diem.\nAreas of focus of the debate\nDuring the event\, there will be presentations on major facts about history and current crises in Cameroon and the various possible strategies for effective peace-building and justice.  The event will consist of a 2-hours open discussion.\nThe discussions will be organized around the following key areas in promoting justice and peace in Cameroon.\nThe political strategies\nEconomic strategies\nSocial strategies\nThe role of civil society organizations (including religious bodies) in achieving peac and justice\n.fusion-button.button-72 {border-radius:0px;}REGISTER NOW

SUMMARY:Bamenda: Training Of Peace Advocates For The Peaceful Resolution Of Conflicts In Cameroon
DESCRIPTION:TRAINING OF PEACE ADVOCATES FOR THE PEACEFUL RESOLUTION OF CONFLICTS IN CAMEROON.  Background and Context.     Cameroon has experienced political and economic stability for decades and continue to play a key role in Central Africa’s regional integration. The country has been widely praised for its ability to maintain the calm and peaceful coexistence of its numerous cultural\, ethnic and religious groups – it has been called a bastion off   stability – notable when compared to numerous conflicts in neighbouring countries. For example\, the Cameroonian community and institutions have demonstrated great resilience in response to the massive refugee crises on their various borders (e.g with Chad\, CAR and Nigeria) including the terrorist attacks imposed on them in the Far-North by the Nigerian home-grown and deadly terrorist group Boko Haram. Cameroonians have called themselves ‘peaceful’ and tolerant’ people. However\, since October 2016\, with the emergence of the current Armed conflict in North- West (NW) and South-West (SW) Regions\, this image of the country as an island of peace among many troubled countries and Cameroonians as ‘tolerant and peace-loving people’ has dramatically changed not for the good.\nRationale for the Training Workshop\n    In joining voices and to move the talk for the need for a peaceful resolution of the current violent conflict in the NW and SW Regions of Cameroon\, The Nkafu Policy Institute (NPI) of The Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation (DLF) has recently instituted a project titled: “Promoting lasting peace in Cameroon.” Within this broad project\, NPI plans to host two leadership and capacity-building workshops for peace advocates. The organization will identify fifty (50) influential community leaders from all ten regions of Cameroon. The Denis and Lenora Foretia Foundation believes this diverse group of peace advocates will be able to bridge Cameroon’s tribal\, cultural\, political\, and linguistic divides and promote peace in their communities.\nOverall objective\n   To give participants the opportunity to inspire their communities as Peace Advocates/Agent: A Peace Advocate is an active peace builder who guides others in the endeavour of building sustainable peace starting with their own practice and community sharing.\n \nSpecific Objectives\n    \n        Specifically\, this training workshop will:\ngive participants the tools and connections necessary to advocate for tolerance\, justice\, the rule of law\, and respect for democratic principles.\nempower and enable participants to actively engage in local level decision-making processes and to the monitoring\, prevention\, management\, resolution and transformation of conflicts in order to promote peace outcomes and social cohesion.\nencourage the peace advocates to speak publicly with the aim of contributing to peace\nconduct a conflict critical analysis to understand best strategies in implementing peace process in affected regions\nWho can participate?\n      This training opportunity gives equal chance to both men and women\, from all the 10 regions of Cameroon.  It particularly targets youth and women leaders who have so far influence their communities through their work for peace and development; civil society advocates\, community leaders (including traditional authorities and church leaders)\, the media\, students and all those interested in contributing to  peaceful and sustainable solution to the current destructive conflict in the Anglophone NW and SW Regions in particular and  Cameroon at large.\nNumber of participants\nWe are expecting to build the capacity of 50 peace advocates (Who have registered online through our call for application).

SUMMARY:Common Sense Solutions To Promote Peace In Cameroon – Limbe
DESCRIPTION:CONCEPT NOTEBackground  Cameroon at crossroads in its history? For decades now\, while many other African countries have been engulfed in conflicts\, Cameroon had been admired by many as a peace loving and stable country. But it would appear events in recent times are fast eroding that notion as the country is being confronted with a series of challenges. It is in this light that we are embarking on contemporary approach trying to encourage greater participation of the citizens in promoting peace in their community and in finding solutions to their common problems.\nObjective of the event\nThe objective of this event is to propose citizen solutions through which Cameroon can accelerate its progress towards the resolution of current conflicts. This event is in line with the mission of the Nkafu Policy Institute\, a think tank (research center) of the Denis and Lenora Foretia Foundation\, whose mission is to provide independent\, in-depth and insightful policy recommendations that advance the Cameroonian economy and the economies of other sub-Saharan African countries.\nTarget audience\nThis event aims to bring together 80 participants from the public\, private and civil society sectors\, including journalists\, researchers\, displaced persons\, traditional authorities\, and students who have the potential to propose common sense solutions to the current crises in Cameroon.\nParticipation fees?\nThere will be no registration fees or per diem.\nAreas of focus of the debate\nDuring the event\, there will be presentations on major facts about the current crises in Cameroon. The event will consist of a 90-minutes open discussion.\nThe theme will be addressed in two phases:\nOverview of current conflicts in Cameroon.\nCitizen proposed solutions to the current conflicts in Cameroon\n \n.fusion-button.button-81 {border-radius:0px;}REGISTER NOW

SUMMARY:Community Involvement in Promoting Peace in Cameroon-Douala
DESCRIPTION:CONCEPT NOTEBackground       Cameroon is at a crossroads in its history. For nearly a decade\, the country\, once described as a haven of peace in Africa\, has been sinking into a spiral of conflict. Institutional solutions have been initiated to ensure a favorable response to the end of the crisis. There is an urgent need to adopt contemporary approaches to democracy that emphasize the importance of citizen participation as vectors of political legitimacy in the development of public policies and laws. In principle\, from a democratic point of view\, it would seem that we should always advocate for greater participation of citizens in the search for solutions.\nObjective of the event\nThe objective of this event is to propose citizen solutions through which Cameroon can accelerate its progress towards the resolution of current conflicts. This event is in line with the mission of the Nkafu Policy Institute\, a think tank (research center) of the Denis and Lenora Foretia Foundation\, to catalyze the economic transformation of African countries by focusing on social entrepreneurship\, science and technology\, health and the implementation of development policies that create economic opportunities for all.\nTarget audience\nThis event aims to bring together 60 participants from the public\, private and civil society sectors\, including journalists\, researchers\, displaced persons\, traditionalist representatives\, and students who have the potential to propose common sense solutions to the current crises in Cameroon.\nParticipation fees?\nThere will be no registration fees or per diem.\nAreas of focus of the debate\nDuring the event\, there will be presentations on major facts about the current crises in Cameroon. The event will consist of a 90-minutes open discussion. The following thematics will be addressed during the event.\nOverview of current conflicts in Cameroon.\nCitizen solutions to the current conflicts in Cameroon\nLocation of the event\nDK HOTEL\, Douala-Bonaberi\n \n.fusion-button.button-87 {border-radius:25px;}REGISTER TO ATTEND
