Edith Ossono1Yaoundé, Cameroon – October 1, 2013 – The Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation is pleased to announce that Edith OSSONO NII Gloria has joined the Nkafu Policy Institute (NKAFU) as Economic Policy Analyst effective October 1, 2013.

Edith OSSONO has been a lecturer in microeconomics and macroeconomics for 2nd year students at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in South Africa. Prior to that she was an econometrics tutor for 4th year students, an administrative assistant in the Economics department and exams invigilator in the Department of Economics at the university. She also served as junior consultant for the international trade exhibition “PROMOTE” in Yaoundé in December 2008 and in December 2011.

“Edith represents a new wave of economic researchers focused on ways of accelerating economic growth and job creation in the continent and we are very honoured to have her bring her skill set to the foundation” commented Obed Fung, Director of the Foretia Foundation. “Her expertize will help expand our understanding of economic policy in Cameroon as well as nurture interns through our internship program”. Mrs. OSSONO is very passionate on the role of youths in economic development and in 2004 and 2009 spearheaded a summer youth camp on economics in Cameroon. At NKAFU, she will design and recommend “sustainable” policies that foster economic growth in Cameroon and the CEMAC sub-region and will also be involved with forging strategic partnerships with various developmental bodies.

“The foundation and the Nkafu Policy Institute provides a unique opportunity of thinking globally and acting locally” commented Mrs. OSSONO in a brief interview. “I intend on maximizing this great opportunity to see how we can together expand economic opportunities especially for the youths.”

Edith holds a Masters Degree in Economics from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in South Africa. Prior to that, she was at the University of Yaoundé II Soa where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in economics. She has undertaken extensive research on Eviews (a statistical program), data capturing, coding and interpreting. She has focused her research on CEMAC countries and has spoken at various international conferences. She will be based at the foundation headquarters in Yaounde.
