Small and Medium Size Enterprises (SMEs) contribute around 36% of Cameroon’s GDP, make-up over 90% of businesses in Cameroon and employ above 60% of the population (World Bank, 2014). Yet, glaring realities indicate that enormous potentials inherent in this sector are unfortunately not fully-harnessed – especially given that more than 70% of SMEs still operate informally. In most of the world’s economies, SMEs are regarded as vectors for job and wealth creation in addition to other economic activities.

For SMEs to thrive in the business world today, they need to draft an appropriate tool for business management, communication, and planning. This tool is referred to as a business plan. It helps entrepreneurs to understand the current situation of their enterprises and look forward to the future. A business plan drawn during the operation of the firm is vital for running the firm effectively, acquire new customers, partners, loans, and so on.  According to research conducted by Jessie Hagen, U.S Bank “On top reasons why businesses fail” 78% lack a well-developed business plan including insufficient research in the business, poor market analysis, incapability of establishing workable goals, inability to know his/her target market, not knowing priorities, and general poor planning.

The Small Business and Entrepreneurship Center (SBEC) at the Denis and Lenora Foretia Foundation which focuses on equipping entrepreneurs with organizational and business management skills is organizing a Training Workshop which will run in different sessions from module 1 to module 5 starting from Thursday, November, 05, 2020, through zoom platform. This workshop is aim at building the capacity of entrepreneurs on writing a business plan that will upgrade their activities and promote economic growth in Cameroon.
