About the Foundation
The Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation was established to catalyze Africa’s economic transformation by focusing on social entrepreneurship, science and technology, innovation, public health, and progressive policies that create economic opportunities for all. The Foundation works in partnership with local governments, policy makers, private enterprises, civil society organizations as well as development partners to expand the resources available to entrepreneurs, farmers, and small business owners in addition to improving individual livelihoods. This Challenging mission is operationalized within its Small Business and?Entrepreneurship Center (SBEC), synergizing with the Nkafu Policy Institute. The former supports SMEs across the country and promotes business-friendly policies that stimulate innovation and job creation, while the latter is a nonpartisan, independent think tank with the mission to provide in-depth and insightful policy recommendations. These platforms are highly supported in their mission by dynamic communication and administrative teams.
The Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation in its quest to ensure the highest quality of services for its activities hereby launches a Call for application of interpreters for its various onsite and online events. Interpretation is expected to be simultaneous, of international standard in both English and French languages. Interpreters would not be recruited as permanent staff but rather, they will be integrated in our pool of interpreters and solicited as need arises, in relation with their profile before being offered a punctual contract requesting their services for a specific event.
Interpreters are expected to be natives, be widely read or have a good mastery of the target languages, including technical terms of the sector concerned by the events. A previous interpretation experience in the focus areas would be considered an added advantage.

Interpreter is expected to report at the Foundation’s Office on the event day or at the venue of the event (when the event is hosted in Yaoundé) at least 30 minutes before the start of the event. A concept note, discussion guides and event program will be sent to the interpreter up-front so he/she anticipates on the production of a glossary to be submitted to the Head of Communication Department prior to the event. Interpretation facilities such as internet, headsets or lap tops shall be provided by the Foundation.
Candidates are expected to showcase the following skills and competences
- Be fluent in English and French languages with a good mastery of the target language;
- Be capable of making verbal report and be synthetic;
- Be fluent and have strong language power in the target language;
- Have good competence in oral and written communication;
- Be perfectly bilingual (English – French);
- Be computer literate and open to learning.
Be minimally, a holder of a Degree in Social Science or Interpretation
Have a proven track record of at least three contractual similar previous experiences, or at least 2 years’ experience as an interpreter in a well-established Organization
